Bank of Cyprus is looking to recruit the member of its team for the position of Head of Legal.
Requirements:
University degree in Law or other business related subject or accredited professional qualifications
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Fluent English is a must
Computer literacy
Knowledge of NBU normative acts
Knowledge of collection process
Knowledge of economic, civil, banking, corporate, bankruptcy legislation
Ability to work with the different divisions of the bank, knowledge of business etiquette, communication skills and negotiation, ability to defend the position of the bank
Main responsibilities:
Provide professional and strategic advice to the CEO, deputy CEO, Board and senior management to ensure that decision taken are legally correct and that the Bank´s interests are protected.
Interact with internal business clients at various levels of management.
Control, manage and direct the activities of the legal function.
Manage a legal team - set goals, coach, conduct reviews and provide regular feedback on performance.
Interpret and analyze legal issues related to various writings, such as contracts, amendments and correspondence concerned to Bank operations.
Make legal judgements on high-value deals, litigations, product or services development and acquisitions.
Draft and modify form documents.
Develop and monitor an annual budget for the department to ensure that all financial targets are met and appropriate financial controls are in place.
Represent the Bank at meetings with external bodies to ensure that the legal aspects of any decisions are fully considered.
Ensure compliance function within the Bank.
